Corrections
Honest errors are part of scholarly publishing. When a factual error is identified after publication, journals publish a clear correction notice linked to the original article.
Protect the scholarly record
Bayrakol Medical Publishing journals correct the literature when errors of fact are identified after publication. Corrections are handled transparently and in accordance with applicable ICMJE and COPE guidance.
Matters of scientific debate, evolving interpretation, or new research are not treated as errors. Such issues are more appropriately addressed through correspondence, commentary, or subsequent publication.
WHEN A CORRECTION IS ISSUED
Errors of fact
Not differences of opinion
A correction is published when an error should have been recognized at the time of publication and affects the accuracy of the published record.
- Factual errors in text, data, figures, tables, author details, affiliations, funding statements, or conflict-of-interest disclosures.
- Production or editorial errors introduced during copyediting, typesetting, or online posting.
- Author errors identified after publication that do not invalidate the article’s overall results and conclusions.
- Pervasive but non-invalidating errors (for example, coding or calculation mistakes) that require a published correction describing the changes.
Minor typographical errors that do not affect meaning or indexing may be corrected silently in the online Version of Record at the editor’s discretion, or left uncorrected when they are obvious and inconsequential.
TYPES OF CORRECTION NOTICE
Erratum
Corrigendum
Journals may distinguish the source of the error, or may publish a single correction notice that states whether the error originated with the authors or with the journal/publisher.
- Erratum — typically used for a production or journal error.
- Corrigendum — typically used for an author error.
- Where terminology differs by journal, the notice itself will identify the nature and origin of the correction.

Correction requests may be raised by authors, readers, editors, reviewers, institutions, or other interested parties.
- Requests should be submitted in writing to the relevant journal and include the article citation or DOI, a clear description of the error, and the proposed correction.
- The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor assesses the request and may consult authors, reviewers, or additional experts where needed.
- Authors are informed of the intended correction before publication of the notice whenever practicable.
- Cases are handled as promptly as reasonably practicable, taking into account complexity and the need for accurate verification.

When a correction is published, Bayrakol journals follow these minimum standards.
- A correction notice is published that describes the change and cites the original article.
- The notice is linked bidirectionally to the original article wherever the publishing platform permits.
- The notice is included in the journal’s table of contents or equivalent listing to support indexing and discoverability.
- The Version of Record remains available; the correction notice becomes part of the permanent scholarly record.
- Where appropriate, the online article may also be updated, with the correction notice documenting what changed.
WHEN CORRECTION IS NOT ENOUGH
Serious errors
and integrity concerns
If an error is serious enough to invalidate the article’s results or conclusions, or if publication misconduct is suspected, a correction alone may be insufficient.
- Such cases may require an expression of concern, retraction, or other editorial action.
- In selected cases of honest error leading to major change, retraction with republication may be considered after further editorial assessment.
- Allegations of misconduct are handled under the publisher’s publication ethics procedures and applicable COPE guidance.

HOW TO REPORT AN ERROR

Report suspected errors to the relevant journal through its official website, including the article title or DOI and a concise description of the issue. Publisher-level inquiries may be sent to bayrakolmp@gmail.com.
Editorial assessment of corrections is independent of commercial considerations and is undertaken to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
