Plagiarism Policy
Bayrakol Medical Publishing is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable similarity detection software and evaluated according to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct copying of text, ideas, images, or data without proper citation
- Paraphrasing another person’s work without appropriate attribution
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one’s own previously published material without disclosure)
- Duplicate submission or redundant publication of the same or very similar work
- Unattributed translation of another author’s work
- Use of AI-generated text, figures, or images without disclosure and appropriate verification
Similarity Check
All manuscripts are checked for similarity before peer review. Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team; decisions are not based on percentage alone but on the nature and context of overlapping text.
In general:
- Acceptable: Minor overlap in methods or standard phrases
- Requires revision: Overlapping text in the range of approximately 10–25%
- Unacceptable: Extensive copied sections or unreferenced text blocks
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is suspected or detected at any stage of the review or publication process, the journal will follow COPE flowcharts and may take one or more of the following actions:
- Request clarification, revision, or proper attribution from the authors
- Reject the manuscript before acceptance
- Retract or correct the published article when necessary
- Publish a notice of correction, retraction, or editorial expression of concern
- Notify the authors’ institution, employer, or funding agencies
- Restrict or ban future submissions from the authors involved
Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for:
- Ensuring that all submitted work is original and properly cited
- Obtaining permissions to reuse tables, figures, or large text excerpts
- Avoiding self-plagiarism or clearly disclosing reused material
- Ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript

Bayrakol Medical Publishing follows the COPE guidelines and flowcharts for handling suspected plagiarism and unethical publishing practices. The journal is committed to protecting the integrity of the scientific record and expects all contributors to adhere to these standards.
