Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
Bayrakol Medical Publishing is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. The journal follows the ethical principles and best practices outlined by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), and WAME (World Association of Medical Editors). All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, and editors—must act with integrity, transparency, and professionalism.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Submit original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere
- Ensure accuracy of data, analysis, and interpretations
- Properly cite and acknowledge all sources and contributions
- Disclose all conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals
- Follow international standards for authorship (ICMJE authorship criteria)
- Provide raw data upon request for verification, when applicable
Authors must not manipulate, fabricate, or falsify data in any form. All human or animal research requires documented ethical approval and appropriate consent.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations
- Maintain confidentiality of the manuscripts
- Avoid conflicts of interest with authors or institutions
- Notify the editor about any suspicion of misconduct or ethical concern
Reviewers must not use unpublished material for personal research or advantage.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Ensure fair, unbiased, and independent editorial decision-making
- Guard against conflicts of interest
- Follow COPE guidelines when handling suspected misconduct
- Ensure transparency in peer review and publication processes
- Protect the integrity of the scientific record
Forms of Publication Misconduct
Misconduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Plagiarism (direct copying, self-plagiarism, or inadequate citation)
- Fabrication or falsification of data, images, or results
- Duplicate submission to multiple journals
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Inappropriate authorship practices (gift, ghost, or honorary authorship)
- Manipulation of peer review
- Ethical violations involving human or animal subjects
Consequences of Ethical Violations
Violations of publication ethics may result in:
- Rejection of the manuscript
- Retraction of the published article
- Publication of an editorial notice or expression of concern
- Notification of the author’s institution, employer, or funding agency
- Prohibition from future submissions to the journal
The journal reserves the right to take additional action as necessary to protect scientific integrity and ethical standards.
