Please send your articles in accordance with these formatting rules and guidelines. They were prepared to provide consistency in style for our journal.
Articles and abstracts should be sent in English. Articles and abstracts should be assessed by a language expert, and this should be specified in the Presentation to the Editor page.
If not one of the authors, the person's name must be included in the Acknowledgement section of the article.
Our journal is widely popular among countries where English is not the native language. To help those authors publish more quality articles before the editorial decision, all the articles submitted to our journal are controlled and Language/Linguistic corrections are made by a native speaker. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR ARTICLES THAT NO CORRECTION IS NEEDED OR IF THE ARTICLE IS REJECTED. The amount of charge for a revised article is between 49-119$. The payment does not influence the editorial decision. The fee can be paid during or after the review process.
A statement that the manuscript is not published elsewhere:
Each author should state that the submitted article, either in full or in part, has not been previously published or is not being assessed for publication in either printed form or as digital media. This rule is in place for all material except for abstracts of 400 words or fewer and includes presentations, books, articles, and other informational transmissions, whether the submissions are in print or electronic format.
Authors must obtain written consent of the author and the copyright holder for quotations taken from previously published articles. The consent must be specified in the article and also submitted with the article. If a study was previously presented in congress, at a conference, or as a poster presentation, this must be specified in the title page, with date, conference name, and location.
Please review the rules of the journal carefully before submission. Articles that do not comply with the format will be returned to the author without further review. Two or more domestic or international referees in that field who are not part of our editorial staff will be assigned, to review the article. Manuscripts are evaluated for importance, originality, and scientific validity. Following the referee review, the manuscript will also be evaluated by the editorial board.
If necessary, the editorial board may correct errors in spelling or grammar without changing the content. The editorial board also has the authority to request changes to the content or the format or to request that the article be shortened. If these changes are necessary, they will inform the authors in writing. Articles will not be published until these edits are completed. Once the manuscript has been submitted, additions or deletions from the authors' list may not be made without submitting written consent from all authors.
Acceptance for publication:
If approved by the editorial board, submitted manuscripts will be ordered for publication.
If requested, unaccepted manuscripts and attachments will be returned to the author.
The assignment of copyright:
Authors must transfer copyright to our journal. According to the 1976 Copyright Act, any publication rights of the articles accepted for publication belong to publisher institutions. This assignment becomes binding with the acceptance of the article for publication. The content of the articles is entirely the responsibility of the author.
Authors will not be paid any fees for the articles. No part of the printed material can be used elsewhere without the written permission of our journal. The authors should complete and attach the Copyright Transfer Form after the acceptance of the article.
Scientific Responsibility Statement:
Authors should declare that they are responsible for the article’s scientific content in the Copyright Transfer Form of the accepted article.
These responsibility areas include study design, data collection, analysis and interpretation, writing, preparation and scientific review of the contents, and approval of the final version of the article.
Preparation for Submission
Follow the requirements of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE): Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (http://www.icmje.org/).
Follow their General Principles and Reporting Guidelines and requirements for these sections: title page, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, tables, figures, units of measurements, and abbreviations and symbols.
For style and consistency of text, follow the AMA (American Medical Association) Manual of Style, 10th Ed., or another internationally recognized style guideline.
Microsoft Word is preferred, 12-point font, Times New Roman or Arial, double-spaced throughout with approximately 3 cm/1 in margin on all edges.
At least two keywords should follow the abstract, separated by a semicolon (;). Use keywords from the NLM: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/
The number of references limit: Research articles (25), case presentations (8), surgical technique or technical (8), literature reviews (85), letters to the editor (4).
References must be correctly formatted in either National Library of Medicine (NLM) https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html or American Medical Association (AMA) style.
If using a citation generator, the author should edit the final version for both styles, to be sure punctuation is correct and that all necessary parts are included.
Original research and review manuscripts:
Original research articles are not to exceed 20 pages total. Page limits: Title (1), Abstract/Keywords (250 words) (1), Article (10 pages, 2500 words), Tables/Figures (5), References (3).
Reviews of current medical literature are not to exceed 4000 words.
Case reports and surgical technique manuscripts:
Not to exceed 2500 words, excluding title page, abstract (limit 150 words), and references. Surgical technique should be described in detail, both in words and visually.
Letters to the Editor:
These should offer opinions, experiences, questions, and objections related to articles published within the previous year.
Include your name, affiliation, and address, and the journal date, number, and article title you are responding to. Limits: 500 words, 4 references. Tables/Figures included only in exceptional cases.
These are written by experts in the field, and follow an article related to this field. Limit: 2500 words.
Medical Education/Scientific Letter:
Medical education articles are about current medical issues and are intended to educate readers, supported by current clinical and laboratory information. Scientific letters also provide information, but by discussing the medical issue and by referring to scientific articles.
Include abstract (limit 150 words), headline related to the medical issue, and references.
Images and videos:
Images should be original and of rarely seen medical images (72 dpi), with a related summary or explanation. Avi, MOV, mpg, or rm files are preferred (resolution: 320 x 240 pixels), maximum time: 30 seconds, frame/second rate: 20-30). Submit images and videos as separate files.
If no animal or human studies were conducted, include this statement, before the References section:
'No animal or human studies were carried out by the authors for this article.'
In the Materials and Methods section, express that all animals were subject to ethical treatment in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Studies on animals require ethical approval.
A photocopy of the official seal of ethical approval must be submitted to our editor. Clearly, state the method of analgesia and sacrifice applied to subjects in the article.
Include the following statement, before the References section, if the statement is true:
'All institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals were followed.'
Include a statement that informed approval was obtained from every participant in the study. All procedures performed in studies involving human participants should be in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards.
For studies conducted in Turkey, authors must also specify that they have complied with the international guidelines, the “Regulations on Pharmaceutical Research,” enforced by The Ministry of Health of Turkey published in the 27089 numbered Official Journal dated 23 December 2008 and also with other regulations published at a later date. Send a photocopy of the official seal of Ethics Board approval from the institution.
If Photo ID is used to identify the patient, the patient’s written consent must be submitted. For studies with human participants, include the following sentence in the manuscript, before the References section, if the statement is true:
‘All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards.’
A statement indicating who funded the study and the role of the funding agency in conducting the study and in preparing the manuscript should be included. This section should describe sources of funding that have supported the work.
Please include relevant grant numbers and the URL of any funder's website. Please also include the following statement (If the following statement is not correct, you must describe the role of any sponsors or funders and amend the sentence as needed):
‘The funders had no role in study design, data collection, and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.'
Conflict of Interest:
State all financial resources that could be considered potential conflict of interest regarding the manuscript or its submission.
