Primary Pulmonary Ewings Sarcoma / Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (ES/PNET) Case

Ewing Sarcoma/Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (ES/PNET) is the second most common primary malignant bone tumor, following osteosarcoma, in children and adolescents, most often arising in long bones. Primary pulmonary ES/PNET is very rare and is seen only as case reports in the literature. Here, we report on a 24-year-old man who had bilateral multiple pulmonary masses and nodules on a chest…

Comparison of Two Different Treatment Modalities on a Bilateral Congenital Choanal Atresic Case

We report the comparisn of two different treatment modalities on a bilateral congenital choanal atresic patient. The nasal endoscopic examination of a 5-year-old girl who had nasal obstruction and bilateral rhinorrhea revealed bilateral obliterated choanas. The choanal atresia was corrected using the transnasal endoscopic approach. An endotracheal tube stent was inserted through the right choana while no stent was used…

Isolated Left Ventricular Noncompaction Mimicking Cystic Mass

Noncompaction of the ventricular myocardium is a recently recognized genetic cardiomyopathy thought to be caused by arrest of normal embryogenesis of the endocardium and myocardium. The diagnosis is usually made by echocardiography. Herein we report the case of a 29-year-old male with isolated left ventricular noncompaction mimicking cystic mass.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome Developing During Infliximab Treatment for Psoriatic Arthritis: A Case Report

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α plays an important role in many aspects of immune system development, immune-response regulation, and T-cell–mediated tissue injury. The evidence that TNF-α, released by auto reactive T cells and macrophages, may contribute to the pathogenesis of immune-mediated demyelinating neuropathies is reviewed. Demyelinating neuropathies are rare adverse events of anti–TNF-α therapy. Improvement usually occurs after drug interruption and/…

Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor of the Esophagus: Report of a Case

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are rare neoplasms to be thought to arise from mesenchymal cells of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) of the esophagus are well documented but are very much rarer than gastrointestinal stromal tumors of the stomach and small bowel. We describe a case of GIST of the esophagus that was resected with wide surgical resection.

Double Outlet Right Ventricle with Discordant Atrioventricular Connections in a Newborn: Case Report and Brief Overview of the Literature

Double outlet right ventricle is a rare cardiac malformation of all congenital cardiac defects. It is a heterogeneous group of abnormal ventriculoarterial connections. Both great arteries (pulmonary artery and aorta) arise primarily from the morphological right ventricle. Double outlet right ventricle with discordant atrioventricular connections have been reported rarely in the literature. We report a newborn with double outlet right…
