JCAM on the way to 10th year

We want to share what we aim on the 10th year of JCAM with our readers. While writing these lines, I felt like I was in 2020. We dont want to write any sentence about our aims that we dont think to occur. We thought that some of our dreams were exaggerated and we couldnt share them with anyone; but…

Occult Hepatitis B Virus Infection

Occult hepatitis B virus infection (OHB) is defined as presence of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) deoxyribonucleic acid in blood or tissues with undetectable hepatitis B surface antigen, outwith the preseroconversion window period. Several possibilities have been hypothesized as the mechanisms of OHB. The clinical significance of OHB remains vastly unknown. OHB was initially detected in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma or…

A Multi-Functional Gene Family From Arthritis to Cancer: A Disintegrin-Like Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Type-1 Motif (ADAMTS)

A Disintegrin-like and Metalloproteinase with Trombospondin type-1 motif (ADAMTS) genes were first discovered in 1997. Currently 19 mammalian ADAMTS proteainases have identified. As a member of matrix metalloproteinases, ADAMTS play a critical role in the degradation/repairing of extracellular matrix. Recent studies demonstrated that ADAMTSs were likely to be useful in understanding of many disease pathogenesis such as arthritis, liver fibrosis…

Prognostic Importance of Bcl-2 Expression in Colon Cancer

Aim: TNM classification, that had been established according to pathologic and anatomic characteristics of the lesion , is the most important factor in decision of adjuvant therapy in colon cancer. Despite curative resection, recurrence can ocur with a rate of 20-30% in early stage disease. Therefore efficieny of TNM classification is controversial. In recent years ,significance of molecular characteristics of…
